Friday Night Date Night at Home! TAKE OUT from Redstone, Plymouth Meeting, PA

Friday Night Date Night! Well if you can’t get there, bring it home!

It’s not secret that The Hubs and I love Redstone. It’s close to home, they make the best cocktails and they serve delicious food. It’s known that the menu is a bit pricey so we save it for special occasions. We also like to go when I work late. We head over about 9 PM for a cocktail and some appetizers in the bar area. Man I CANNOT wait until we can do that safely again! Anyway since we can’t make that happen right now, we made our own cocktails and brought some of our favorites home for a date night!

Not bad for made-at-home cocktails!
Gin martini and an Old Fashioned – the drinks we order when we are at Redstone.

One of the items Redstone is famous for is their Buffalo Shrimp. They are expensive but they are good. We got the large portion of 5 shrimp for $19. The smaller portion is 3 for a few bucks less but trust me if you are sharing make sure you get the large. Delish.

What was great about the take-out serving is that they had everything packaged separately so the shrimp didn’t get mushy. The buffalo sauce and the very high quality blue cheese crumbles were both in separate containers. We put it on the crispy shrimp when we were ready to indulge.

Mmmmm spicy and saucy

We also ordered a Wedge Salad. This is one of my favorite salads ever. Sadly, Redstone took this salad off their main menu last year sometime. That was very disappointing. They said that they were trying to get all of their locations with the exact same menu for consistency so this was one of the salads that was removed. BUT HAPPILY THEY RETURNED IT TO THE COVID19 TAKE-OUT MENU HERE in Plymouth Meeting!

The lettuce was cool and crisp. It is made using thick, seasoned bacon and creamy blue cheese dressing. There is also diced green onion, perfectly ripe grape tomatoes and those high-quality blue cheese crumbles used on the shrimp. It’s a large portion and it was fine for us for sharing! (Around $10).

This is the salad split into 2

Mmmmmmm The Redstone Burger. (I believe it was $16). Let me tell you this is one of my top restaurant burgers. It is always cooked perfect. The chefs always get it right no matter who is on the grill. It’s toppings, including lettuce, tomato and pickles, are always fresh. The bacon is thick and crispy and the brioche bun is toasted and complimentary. The BBQ sauce is delicious. If they bottled it, I’d buy it. The fries…well they are just ok. They remind me of McDonalds fries which are good but I would expect a little more sophisticated fries from Redstone. If you are at the restaurant ask them to “truffle your fries” for a few extra bucks (I think $3). It’s totally worth it. They drizzle truffle oil all over the fries and load them up with herbs and grated cheese. You can probably substitute the fries with mashed potatoes or coleslaw. The other sides are probably available too with a small up-charge…usually $2. (I hate up-charges – I think they’re tacky).

Redstone did not disappoint. We were satisfied with all that we ate and it was worth every penny. I encourage you to support Redstone in Plymouth Meeting so that they can open again for us all to enjoy. Here is a picture of their current menu items available for pick-up. The only problem here is they don’t list their prices! You’ll either have to call for prices or just take your chances. 🤷🏼‍♀️

In addition to what I mentioned in my blog, I can also recommend for appetizers, the brussel sprouts and the wings with BBQ sauce. For main entrees I can recommend the classic chicken, the baby back ribs and the braised beef short rib. I’ve had them all and they are all Redstone classics (like the burger).

That’s it for this edition of TAKE OUT. I give Redstone a 4.75 out of 5 forks! Be safe everyone! Remember I wear a mask for you and you wear a mask for me. Thanks for reading folks! And don’t fret, we will be eating out again soon enough!

BRUNCH series! First review from Panache in Blue Bell, PA

Previously I reviewed Panache for dinner and it was a huge hit so I thought I’d start the BRUNCH series with this fab establishment and let me tell you this was no mistake.

It was Sunday morning at 10:30. We had a reservation but we certainly didn’t need one. It wasn’t like dinner when it is packed and always a wait. We started with a cocktail. I had a Ruby Red Spritzer for $7.00. It was champagne, pineapple infused vodka and a splash of pineapple juice. It was very fizzy and refreshing as well as STRONG my goodness! Dan had a Bloody Mary also for $7.00. I tasted it and it was fine for a regular Bloody Mary but for me, I prefer a Bloody with a little more pizzazz. Chuck a chunk of cheese and a pickle on a skewer and throw it in there! A crunchy piece of bacon or a fresh, crunchy piece of celery!

Brunchtails

Ummmmm can you say dang good mini croissant? I have never been a huge fan of the croissant but these complimentary mini croissants have changed me. They were still warm and buttery and oh-so-good. The picture does not do them justice. We were given 4 croissants for the two of us. I let out server know how delightful they were and she offered us more. I wanted to say yes but my thighs said no.

The menu had a nice variety of meal choices. It offered Belgian Waffels, steak and eggs with Béarnaise sauce and your regular ol’ eggs with bacon or chicken sausage. Or you could get something lunchy like the Panache Burger (that’s what I had). If you are feeling like you want something a little different maybe try the Sweet Potato Pancakes or what Dan enjoyed the Shakshuka Merguez.

The Shakshuka Merguez was served in a piping hot cast-iron pan. It was as delicious as it was beautiful to see. It was served with two sunny-side up eggs baked with spicy tomato sauce and lamb merguez sausage for $13.00. I tasted the “sausage” and the sauce and both were yummy, however, I don’t really know that you call call it sausage. Their was no casing and it reminded me of lamb kofta which for me is fine because kofta is exotically delicious. But overall it was a home run for a new and exciting brunch entree.

The Shakshuka Merguez

I had the Panache Burger. I am a lunch kinda girl rather than breakfast. I know I know, what is wrong with me? lol Anyway, presentation was just okay but that’s fine because the burger was cooked perfect and that my friends makes for the perfect burger. It was served on a soft brioche bun which frankly is the only way to serve a burger. The fries were….well fries. Nothing special. A little drizzle of truffle oil and a sprinkle of parmesan and parsley could really elevate this plate. Don’t get met wrong, it was good. I bet they would have let me substitute the fries for a side salad. Maybe next time I’ll ask. OH just so you know, they have 1/2 price burgers during Wednesday happy hour so you have no excuse not to give it a try.

Perfectly cooked burger in my book

Panache did it again my friends. The atmosphere like evening atmosphere was lovely with soft Italian music playing in the background. Our server was kind and attentive. I had a question about the menu and since she wasn’t sure of the answer she quickly went to the chef to find out for me. Everything was timely and delicious. I did notice though that it wasn’t crowded like the evening and maybe because people just don’t know how good their brunch menu is? Well thank goodness I’m here to tell you! I give Panache brunch 3.5 out of 4 forks. Thanks for reading my blog all! Their is more to eating out than just dinner. Try some BRUNCH!

The All-Inclusive Overindulgence

Let me start by saying I’m sorry I haven’t blogged in the last several days but I was celebrating my anniversary out of the country. But this blog is important to me so I want to take a few moments to say hello and let you know we will be taking my mother out to Pepperoncini in Conshohocken, PA to celebrate Mother’s Day and I will prepare a review and get it posted ASAP!

Quickly though I want to share That The Hubs and I just returned from a beautiful resort in The Bahamas. YES we overindulged on delicious rich foods, including an excess of red meat, strong coffee, a plethora of tropical cocktails, wine, sweets and soooooo much more. Can you say heartburn and indigestion?🥴 Here are a few of the dishes and drinks…

Delicious🤤

Once we returned home we went food shopping and got mostly healthy food to try to make up for the gluttony. We bought chicken breasts, ground chicken, snapper fillets, albacore tuna, carrots, celery, radishes, cucumbers, broccoli whole wheat bread, berries, grapefruit, bananas AND a few more items but mostly all good-for-you food. We needed to food-prep so I prepared some grilled chicken breasts, chicken meatballs, cleaned and cut lots of raw veggies for snacking and for a salad base and some light tuna salad. At least until our next meal out 🤣.

Wish me luck with the dietary “clean-out”. 😂 I’ll be posting my review for Pepperoncini ASAP!

Ohhh to be back there again 🌴🌞
